Extras: After starting off with heaps of spam (with cute Sunny Leone hawking the company's stuff), the rest of the extras took on a new light. There were not many of them, a handful of trailers and more spam, but the length of the scenes largely made up for it again.

Audio/Video Quality: Brand New Faces 5 was presented in the same 1.78:1 ratio anamorphic widescreen color it was shot in by director B. Skow for Vivid Entertainment. For those unfamiliar with his background, suffice it to say that his experience outside of porn is superior to many inside the industry and it shows up in his movies, including this one as shot in HD, though presented in the SD format (for now) as shot in 1080i to provide a lot of resolution supporting some of the effects (making it look more like a real movie than just a porno). The lighting was well handled and this added to the pleasure of watching the gals in play as the lengthy scenes gave them enough freedom to explore what was advertised as their first scenes (with a money back guarantee). The composition of the camera angles and lighting were almost always optimal this time, Skow seeing fit to try and enhance the look of the ladies at every turn as possible. The fleshtones were accurate this time and the DVD mastering was well done (if in a bitrate hovering around 4 Mbps), making it a mixed bag in terms of visual quality; leaning towards above average. The audio was presented in a 2.0 Dolby Digital English (in 192 Kbps) offering with the vocals sounding flat and the music pretty decent. For some reason, the levels were about the same as usual but aside from the added background noise, the dynamic range was average and the separation of the vocal track nonexistent.

Body of Review: B. Skow has been the driving force at Vivid Entertainment in terms of providing good looking porn in recent years; typically bringing something unique to the mix as he enhanced the performances of the ladies he shot for the company under so many sets of circumstances. His latest release is a bit different in that it was a series of lengthy scenes called Brand New Faces 5; a movie dedicated to showcasing four lovely young ladies in their first scenes for porn and the sequel to the extremely popular Brand New Faces 1, Brand New Faces 2, and Brand New Faces 4 I saw recently. The porn industry is replete with gals claiming to be in their first scenes ever but the catch this time was the cover promising a "100% Money-Back Guarantee" that these were the first times the ladies were on film. Be that as it may, the cover also promised that the scenes were candid and given my experience with newcomers, I was hoping Skow could pull a rabbit out of a hat and also make them award winning performances. If you're still interested, here's a quick glimpse into the scenes by cast and action, noting that no condoms were used:

Scene One: Adriana Nevaeh, the brunette seen on the lower left hand corner of the front cover, was up first as she shyly complied with the director's wishes to get undressed. She was in the dressing room and seemed embarrassed to shake her booty without music but Skow pointed out that then the audience wouldn't be able to hear her comments. He was very intrusive with the camera as he captured her entire range of assets, from her all natural titties to her lean frame, pretty eyes, and shapely ass. She followed the formula that included signing her promise about this being her first scene, eventually getting to work with lucky Jerry. Fans will appreciate that she warmed up considerably to Skow's charm and hairy arms (he felt her up a bit but not excessively) but she did not do a solo masturbation scene as she felt too self conscious. To have the sex itself, she went into the bedroom set where Jerry was waiting for her, the gal showing him her oral skills with all the rough edges intact. I prefer experience over newness but there were times when I wondered exactly how few (not how many) cocks had plundered her privates given how she reacted to some of the stuff. Still, it was fun seeing her broken in fairly well by Jerry, the guy doing a better job than I expected of him. For Adriana's part, she did start becoming more active towards the end of the lengthy scene (when she was on top of him), showing her potential with Skow doing his usual bang up job. The scene finished up at 55 minutes into the show when Jerry gave a HUGE wad of population pudding to her face, missing her on the first few volleys but showing her provide some post coital sucking.

Scene Two: Arika Foxx, a meatier babe as seen on the upper left hand corner of the front cover, was next and the cover shot did not do her justice. She wasn't the hottest looking lady in the series to date but right from the moment she entered the studio, she projected a level of confidence and appeal that surpassed almost all the others to date. She followed the general formula with a twist, she worked with established performer Sammie Rhodes; the blond greeting her with Skow at the door. She had just turned 18 "in September" and the scene was shot on 11/30/2007 with her great big rack looking too good to be true. Her ass was nicely shaped as well and the level of tease was such that I knew this would be a winner of a scene early on even though she was sticking with a gal this time (she claimed to like guys as well). The ladies began pawing each other in the dressing room but were then moved to the bed where they looked over a bunch of toys to use on each other. The lesbian antics started off slowly but it was clear from moments into them that Arika was a seasoned expert, even showing up Sammie to an extent in terms of her active love of pussy (that I could identify with). The vibrators and dildos got as much work out as the tongues and fingers too; Sammie trying her best to reclaim her alpha status and Skow surprising me slightly by his rougher camera work (I think they caught him by surprise too). The scene ended just before the 110 minute mark, the chemistry, enthusiasm, and heat generated giving me reason to look for more work by Arika. Sweet!

Scene Three: Missy Mahem, the girl next door type from California seen on the lower right hand corner of the cover, was up next as she gave her interview on the couch. Skow covered the basics with her and she was the most nervous of the cast, her relief once well into the scene apparent to me. I liken her to a stripper from a second tier club, not quite emotionally prepared for the event but at 20 years old, the unemployed gal showing she was ready to rumble sexually. She was another lady that came across as having a lot of potential even though she was not the glamorous looking kind of female I usually associate with Vivid. Skow even had to give her some cigarette time and a break as she tried to figure out if she really wanted to go through with it. His manner with her helped the adorable little lady get over the hump (pun intended), her pale, sweaty hands as much an indicator as her hand wringing (she really was wringing them) that she was a heartbeat away from bolting out the door. An all natural gal, she appealed to the freshness factor many people appreciate from newcomers, not coming off like a jaded old performer that has seen it all in the slightest. She was coming around but it was when she sat on the bed with Voodoo that sealed the deal. He chatted her up and said a lot of complimentary things, Skow joining him to put her at ease. Voodoo ate her out and she reciprocated with no hesitation (she was "right on it" as he put it); slobbing his knob far more effectively than I would have believed from the first portion of the scene. By the time Voodoo was going to tap that biscuit of hers, she was prodding him ("kay, kay...") to penetrate her. He took his time drilling her and as she accommodated the rod going inside of her, eventually showing that she could be a moderately active participant of the scene, showing great PTM skills even if the ice was too cold for her. The spew to her face was not the biggest load of the day but it was pretty fair sized, Missy keeping up with it as best she could.

Scene Four: Viki La Vie, the beautiful blond seen on the upper right hand corner of the front cover, was up last with her scene starting at the 163 minute mark. The other ladies were homegrown but she came all the way from Slovakia (not Poland as the cover suggested), looking really hot as the cover photo suggested. Voodoo saw her come into the building and commented about her looks too, his drool hitting his jaw on the floor when he found out she was single (note to Viki, I know just the guy for you). She claimed to be shy but the 27 year old was anything but, looking much younger and more sexually aggressive than any newcomer I've seen in the series. Skow felt her up and she signed her certificate, her background in fashion modeling and dancing apparent as she worked the camera really well. Once she got naked, she did give a hint or two at being nervous but only a hint as the beauty followed the formula. The flexible lady then went to the bedroom to work with lucky Voodoo, giving him the kind of head that men dream about in a semi-POV fashion. The well handled hummer led to a vaginal scene where she was the most passive of the bunch, her accent sweet to my ears but not enough to make up for allowing Voodoo to do all the work. On looks alone, she was a winner and her potential given the quality of her tease was high but largely unrealized, but I hope she sticks around for awhile.

Summary: Brand New Faces 5 by director B. Skow for Vivid Entertainment was worth a rating of Recommended to me for all the action, the new faces, and the technical handling of the scenes but fans of brand new gals will think it was a "must have" since the ladies looked and performed their roles so well. I can't definitively state that none of them have shot a professional scene before but unlike so many titles that Vivid sits on for years as part of their marketing approach, Brand New Faces 5 was rushed right to the pressing plant to jump on the newness factor (something other companies seem to have embraced in the past as many of you like to see "firsts", real or imagined). Whatever the reality of the marketing claim though, all four of the cuties were breaths of fresh air and deserve some accolades for providing enough fuck for the buck, strokability, and replay value to make this a keeper for your collection.
