The Movie:

Dark Flame may not try anything that Ninn Worx hasn't tried before but it's nice to see the studio working with some top talent. There's no plot or ongoing theme to this one at all, simply five sex scenes that play out in a fancy (and presumably European) locale. Here's a look at what's what...

Chapter 1 - McKenzie Miles And Barry Scott: Barry drops his pants in the plain, white room that this scene takes place in so that McKenzie can give him head. The DVD

Video:

This shot on digital video production looks pretty clean. There is some mild edge enhancement in a couple of spots but otherwise and a little bit of mpeg compression evident in some of the darker colors and the blacks. The image is presented in anamorphic widescreen at approximately 1.85.1 (except for the last two scenes which for some reason are fullframe)and overall the image is strong, stable and colorful. Skin tones look nice and natural, and there is no print damage and the picture is actually flagged for progressive scan, which was a nice surprise.

Sound:

The Dolby Digital 2.0 Surround track is quite sufficient. There isn't any dialogue really, just moans and groans. The women don't really talk to each other much aside from the occasional heat of the moment type comments. The background music has some nice punch to it and it comes through the speakers loud and clear.

Extras:

The only really substantial extra on this disc is a Behind The Scenes (32:00) featurette that is also presented in anamorphic widescreen. There are a few casual interviews conducted with the cast members on set during the shoot and some alternate angels of the hardcore action that makes up the feature contained in here. It's not particularly deep but it's got enough footage in it to make it worth skimming through and there are a couple of amusing flubs and bloopers towards the end that are rather funny.

Rounding out the extra features is a decent sized gallery of hardcore and softcore photos. Some animated menus and scene selection are also provided.

Final Thoughts:

While Dark Flame may not reinvent the wheel, it doesn't really have to as it sticks to a tried and true formula - well shot sex scenes with an attractive and enthusiastic cast, nice settings and production values and a decent score. The disc's supplements aren't all that exciting but the A/V quality is quite good and this release comes highly recommended.
