Audio/Video Quality: Jack's Playground 37 was presented in 1.78:1 anamorphic widescreen color as shot by director Robby D. for release by Digital Playground. The lighting was reasonably solid here, as expected given this was Robby's standard type of gonzo, and that meant that the limited amounts of grain and other visual elements used to lend a sense of texture were minimal. The way the scenes were shot and edited was markedly similar in the scenes, though the composition of the angles was changed up a bit depending on the scene in question; sometimes using a POV angle before the sex took place. The composition of the shots and the editing enhanced the look of the ladies more than a little bit too, proving what this critic has to say about the production team led by Robby and his crack crew (notably Joey Pulgadas, Nick's name crossed off the credits) with the DVD mastering revealing no obvious compression artifacts (the bitrate varying but often staying near the lower 7 Mbps range). Though the entire production looked more like some of their older works (the subtle differences observable to those who look closely enough) but as a straightforward gonzo comedy, it worked out nicely. The audio was presented in a 5.1 Dolby Digital Surround (using 384 Kbps) with a minimalist leaning that seemed unique in most ways to productions outside of the Jack series, with the vocals always dominating the audio track as I like it.

Body of Review: Jesse Jane is the lead contract gal at Digital Playground and has been for years. Her buoyant personality, outgoing nature, and overall appeal surpass any of their previous ladies so any project she is in becomes of interest to her large fanbase. Well, director Robby D. has another treat in store for those fans later this month when the company releases Jack's Playground 37, the sequel to Jack's Playground 36, as it features lovely Jesse in his latest madcap comedy. For the uninitiated, the entire series is based on the admittedly flimsy plot device that "Jack" (Robby) scams the ladies into having sex on camera as a means of auditioning for music video work her promises them. While some find the concept wearing a bit thin (how long has it been since Robby first told me that an actual music video would be made for the series?!?), the premise is merely a generic means to an end, allowing the director to prey on young hotties with the viewer as the voyeur. Some of the skits are funnier than others but the overall appeal of the idea is a nice way of showing people of both genders "using each other" to get what they want. The comeuppance so far is that Jack never gets any trim and the ladies never get any video work; both sides essentially getting what they deserve. Here's a brief look at the scenes by cast and action, noting that one condom was used for those still interested:

Scene One: Jesse Jane, the foxy blond featured on the front cover, was up first as Ben English's maid; complete with skimpy outfit. The scenario was that Jesse lost a bet and was paying up, cleaning his house and his pipes with equal vigor. It didn't take long for Jesse's skill with knob slobbing to come out either, the gal actively wrapping her lips around Ben's cock and sucking away like she was in a trance. The comic pop ups were cute (with a certain editing guru at the helm, you never know just what will happen in this series) but the enthusiastic vaginal ride was even more appealing; Jesse impaling herself on top of his dick with a sense of abandon few of her peers seem able to display. Ben was sweating up a storm as the pair banged, Jesse's tight body forcing him to take the occasional respite for her to do some PTM. Still, she milked him dry far too early and even the load of population pudding to her mouth seemed only to warm her up for more sexual antics (sadly, she did not have a second scene in the movie).

Scene Two: Kelsey Michaels, a lean gal with an all natural body, was up next with Chris Charming, the style of pop up changing to the "Pop Up Video" style some of you may know from VH-1. The initially erotic tease sequence was fun and funny as a result, the lass showing that her premature retirement from porn a few years back was a shame. While she could not deepthroat his rod all the way, she did manage to suck the head well enough as she handled his shaft (and he fingered her in return). Chris is not exactly one of the top 100 best looking men in porn I'm told (my co-reviewer was less kind than that) but he was packing a big dick and that will appeal to some of you (after all, would you want to see her screwing "Meat Manly the two pump chump" with both of his inches or some guy that can't keep an erection?); even if it was larger than she could handle as well. An active rider is always preferred so except for the positions where this wasn't possible, she did a decent enough job of it. The chemistry wasn't as solid as the first scene (Ben and Jesse seem to have an affinity for one another while these two did not) yet it wasn't a bad scene either. The scene ended when Chris rubbed out a tiny load to her mouth, the audition okay by Jack's standards.

Scene Three: Roxy DeVille, a major brunette hotty, was up next as a band member ("Naked Supermodels") out promoting her upcoming gig at the Whiskey-A-Go-Go in her neon green & black outfit when Eric Masterson helped convince her to sign on with the program. First off, the beginning of the scene relied way too much on a repetitive clip of her playing the rusty trombone but Roxy is always welcome in a movie as far as I'm concerned (and she was all slutted up here as though about to go work at a mid tier strip club). She stripped for the guys and gave Eric a lapdance, eventually showing her skill at blowing men honed from years of experience (without the annoying musical interlude). I was surprised that it took so long for his dick to respond to her ministrations though, I'd have nutted twice by the time it took him to even get a chubby. Roxy was not a consistently aggressive rider this time (strangely enough) and while she did pick up speed as the scene continued, I couldn't help but wonder if this was due in part to Eric not clicking with her (his use of a condom not helping matters any either). Once again, the pop shot came too fast and I wondered how much footage was actually shot versus what was kept in; so your mileage may vary even if you're a fan like me of Roxy.

Scene Four: Jelena Jensen, the large breasted brunette next to Jesse on the front cover, was up next in a tease scene that had her cleaning up as she discussed a still photoshoot where she got into the photographer. There was the inevitable masturbation sequence at the very end but I admit that she was as lovely as ever.

Scene Five: Sue Diamond, a curvy blond that has been in porn for awhile, was up next as she played with Scott Nails. The initial commentary was given in text at the bottom of the screen, rambling on a long time about what a great "oner" the first 11 minutes and 4 seconds were that they did not need any edits. While not the most inspired bit of humor from the series, it was a cute nod to the guys that make these scenes shine as often as not (the editors). Sue sucked dick like a seasoned professional, actively inhaling meat pipe as though she was into the act. The vaginal sex was a bit less enthusiastic, Sue giving some effort into it while Scott appeared to be trying to stay in character too much (in this scenario, Sue was his girlfriend's sister and he felt guilty). I loved her shapely ass and have seen her do a lot better, the ending load covering her ass crack.

Scene Six: Valentina Vaughn, the little sex kitten seen on the far left hand side of the front cover, was up last in a limited (short) tease sequence that amounted to an erotic video (as if shot by Celeste but without the slow motion). The pop up boxes ended early (thank you!) and aside from the Roxy clip hidden away here, I admit that I could have watched her for a lot longer.

Summary: Jack's Playground 37 by director Robby D. for release by Digital Playground later this month was a nice manner of giving the nod to Jesse Jane but why we had to wait two and a half years for it to come out really stretches the imagination. As far as the ladies in the cast, I thought they were a solid selection but several of the scenes were lacking. Without any decent extras and such a short running time, even a fan of the cast such as I am has to rate the title a fair Rent It so give it a look before dropping your cash. In short, Jack's Playground 37 did not live up to Jack's Playground 36 in terms of strokability and replay value but fans of Jesse will want a copy for their collections all the same; the frisky French Maid look appealing on her.
