Extras: After starting off with heaps of spam (with cute Kayden Kross and Sunny Leone hawking the company's stuff), the rest of the extras took on a new light. There were not many of them, a handful of trailers and more spam, but the length of the scenes largely made up for it again.

Audio/Video Quality: Brand New Faces 8 was presented in the same 1.78:1 ratio anamorphic widescreen color it was shot in by director B. Skow for Vivid Entertainment. For those unfamiliar with his background, suffice it to say that his experience outside of porn is superior to many inside the industry and it shows up in his movies, including this one as shot in HD, though presented in the SD format (for now) as shot in 1080i to provide a lot of resolution supporting some of the effects (making it look more like a real movie than just a porno). The lighting was well handled and this added to the pleasure of watching the gals in play as the lengthy scenes gave them enough freedom to explore what was advertised as their first scenes (with a money back guarantee). The composition of the camera angles and lighting were almost always optimal this time, Skow seeing fit to try and enhance the look of the ladies at every turn as possible. The fleshtones were accurate this time and the DVD mastering was well done (if in a bitrate hovering around 4 Mbps), making it a mixed bag in terms of visual quality; leaning towards above average. Some will rail about the watermark on the lower right hand corner of the scenes but it went away pretty quickly so don't worry about it. The audio was presented in a 2.0 Dolby Digital English (in 192 Kbps) offering with the vocals sounding flat and the music pretty decent. For some reason, the levels were about the same as usual but aside from the added background noise, the dynamic range was average and the separation of the vocal track nonexistent.

Body of Review: B. Skow has been the driving force at Vivid Entertainment in terms of providing good looking porn in recent years; typically bringing something unique to the mix as he enhanced the performances of the ladies he shot for the company under so many sets of circumstances. His latest release is a bit different in that it was a series of lengthy scenes called Brand New Faces 8; a movie dedicated to showcasing four lovely young ladies in their first scenes for porn and the sequel to the extremely popular Brand New Faces 1, Brand New Faces 2, Brand New Faces 4, Brand New Faces 5, Brand New Faces 6, and Brand New Faces 7, that I saw recently. The porn industry is replete with gals claiming to be in their first scenes ever but the catch this time was the cover promising a "100% Money-Back Guarantee" that these were the first times the ladies were on film. Be that as it may, the cover also promised that the scenes were candid and given my experience with newcomers, I was hoping Skow could pull a rabbit out of a hat and also make them award winning performances. If you're still interested, here's a quick glimpse into the scenes by cast and action, noting that only one condom was used:

Scene One: Alexis Ford, the cutie seen on the upper right hand side of the front cover, was up first as she engaged in a lesbian scene with sexy Adrianna Nicole shot back on January 18, 2008. As a long time fan of the series, I enjoyed watching Skow put her through the paces, the lengthy (very lengthy) teasing leading to a masturbation sequence where her razor burned crotch was given the spotlight; the moistened biscuit a welcome sight indeed. Alexis seemed to have an outgoing nature that showed her potential to make a go of a career in porn, lacking the shyness many others in the series have had. I admit that the 19 year old appeared too willing to do a whole lot of things that a "first scene" showing her with another gal made implausible but Skow was able to get some fine moments of her enjoying the action too. They licked each other extensively, caressed one another at length, and then pulled out the toys to penetrate with all the trimmings. Alexis may not be the best the series has had to offer but she will fit right into the industry if this scene was any indicator of her abilities as a newcomer. Yum!

Scene Two: Kiley Heart, the blond on the lower right hand corner of the front cover, was up next in a scene shot on January 22, 2008 with Voodoo. The cover photo made her look almost other-worldly but the 22 year old gal struck me as having just enough nervous energy to add to the believability of her claim to be new to porn. Skow enjoyed feeling her up much like he usually does, establishing a link with the lady by boosting her self esteem as he flattered her physical attributes. While she appeared to be a stripper in the process of expanding her repertoire, I noticed that even more than Alexis, the gal appeared to be genuinely into giving up her camera cherry with Voodoo. Her implant scars aside, fans of lean performers will find her to be an attractive woman with some potential; Kiley getting friskier as the scene progressed. Her truncated experience at a solo act aside, Kiley proved to be a delightful knob slobber; working over Voodoo's cock as though she was no stranger to servicing a large penis. This was another time when it was clear someone responsible for the boxcover screwed up because if anything, she was underestimating the size of her breasts but she did seem to have some fun here all the same in her quest to grasp her "15 minutes of fame". She also claimed to be "twenty something" but looked on the high end of it despite her "just over 21" follow up comment. She even proved her willingness to "do anything for money" by working with Alan Stafford after her solo routine, the gal displaying some polished moves that led me to believe she was well versed in the porn dynamic of pay for play. Alan went down on her first thing and I'll give him credit for that given her beef curtains but she was frisky enough and I have to give her credit for conveying the fun she had. The down side to the scene was that Scarlett was relatively passive during the vaginal sex and her oral skills were in great need of polishing up. The scene ended when his small wad was aimed in the general direction of her face, missing it most of the time as she tried to suck start him for round two.

Summary: Brand New Faces 8 by director B. Skow for Vivid Entertainment was worth a rating of Recommended to me for all the action, the new faces, and the technical handling of the scenes but fans of brand new gals will think it was a "must have" since the ladies looked and performed their roles so reasonably well. I can't definitively state that none of them have shot a professional scene before but unlike so many titles that Vivid sits on for years as part of their marketing approach, Brand New Faces 8 was rushed right to the pressing plant to jump on the newness factor (something other companies seem to have embraced in the past as many of you like to see "firsts", real or imagined). Whatever the reality of the marketing claim though, all four of the cuties were breaths of fresh air and deserve some accolades for providing enough fuck for the buck, strokability, and replay value to make this a keeper for your collection. Skow does it again with his attentive nature to make these four ladies shine better than his peers could hope to, the series website probably the best thing the company has provided in a long time in terms of consistent quality.
