The DVD

Video:

The shot on digital video 1.78.1 anamorphic widescreen image is pretty crisp with only some mild edge enhancement keeping it from a higher grade. Colors look nice and lifelike, flesh tones as well, and the black levels remain strong throughout. There are a couple of spots where some low level video noise is present, but these are few and far between and overall this presentation looks pretty good.

Sound:

The English language Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo track is clean and clear without any evidence of hiss or distortion, however there are more than a couple of spots where the levels fluctuate a fair bit but it's never too harsh. Other than that, there are no problems here. There's plenty of bass in the low end of the soundtrack, and the high end is crisp without any tinny effects or break ups in the audio.

Extras:

The only substantial extra on this release is a Behind The Scenes (59:51) segment that is made up of some interviews and some random behind the scenes footage. There is some bonus hardcore activity in here but most of it is the cast goofing off and talking and relaxing on set. Trailers for other Burning Angel releases can be found, as can a decent sized still gallery and a web-link. Animated menus and chapter/scene selection options are also included.

Final Thoughts:

XOXO Joanna Angel is a step or two above your average gonzo feature thanks to some decent variety, a good sense of humor and some interesting ideas and scenarios. While Burning Angle's strongest material can be a little more creative, this is still a very solid effort and the sex scenes are plentiful and well executed. Recommended for Joanna's loyal legion of fans.
