Extras: There was a 9:09 minute long Behind the Scenes feature and a cumshot recap but that was it. Thankfully, there was so much sex footage on the double disc set that I doubt anyone rational will complain given the length of the movie though the photogallery advertised was missing (after watching this double disc set, I could have overlooked almost anything though).

Audio/Video Quality: Rio Loco was presented in an appealingly clear 1.78:1 ratio anamorphic widescreen color as shot by director Chris Streams for Jules Jordan Video as presented in the MPEG-2 format so common to standard definition titles (with 480p resolution). The lighting was consistently solid, generally limiting the grain and other visual flaws in the open settings of the house, no scenes going far outside the box in terms of centering on dark rooms this time. The composition of the shots was largely enhancing to the group of ladies instead of the ladies as individuals, this being a common concern fans of orgies have had (including myself) over the years. There were no compression artifacts (the bitrate hovering in the 3.8 Mbps range most of the time I paid any attention to it) but the fleshtones were not always what I expected them to be, making this one visually decent for me and not the best I've seen from Chris in the past. As far as the mixture of close up shots, medium angle and long distance work was concerned, there was an attempt to include a variety of action here from different perspectives, adding to the replay value of the scenes even if a few specific portions could have been done more to my individual liking. The 2.0 Dolby Digital English audio (in 192 Kbps with a 48 kHz sampling rate) was a bit more basic with no separation or major dynamic range but I could always hear what was said and the music didn't interfere with my viewing pleasure. The music dominated during the tease sequences and fans may find this a marked change for the director from most of his works to date.

Body of Review: Chris Streams has been shooting porn for many years now, starting out working at smaller companies only to work his way up the food chain to be distributed by Jules Jordan Video these days. This is nearly the mainstream equivalent of going from shooting home movies to signing a multipicture deal with Universal or Sony and it involved a whole lot of work and patience from what he told me not long ago, this helping motivate him to providing the most fuck for the buck he possibly can. His latest release is a bit different from what he has shot under the JJV label previously, the title being Rio Loco: Special Edition and the theme being a series of orgies captured in South America where anything goes. The first impression I had about the movie was how long it took for the first sex to start but that was quickly replaced by finding it amazing what was taking place in the target rich environment. If anything, the approach struck me as a modified version of Chris' uncredited work at Shane's World, except he got to jump in repeatedly and sample the goods too. Here's a brief look at the scenes by cast and action, noting that no condoms were used that I saw for those still interested, my usually descriptive style cut back or this would require a book for each of the five scenes:

General Description: Okay, like most gonzo orgies, a lot took place at any given time and no one wants a laundry list of sex acts in linear order for the review. I included a bunch of pictures to convey a sense of the action but it was largely a "no holes barred" type of production, a lot of anal sex, a lot of blowjobs, and a lot of curvy ladies going all out to earn their pay but also have a good time. The best thing about the double disc, nearly (not "over") six hour extravaganza was how much fun factor there was here, enhancing the replay value considerably along with the strokability. Before each scene was a bit of dialogue leading up to the orgies too, Chris sometimes waxing philosophic about social disparities ("you can literally throw a rock up the hill here and there are people starving..." as the group ate at a feast of delicious looking food. Sexually, there was foot fetish action, what appeared to be Bobbi Starr fisting a Brazilian chick, scores of facials and ass pops where the genetic juice flew all over the place, and everything short of male bisexual conduct (which is a good thing since that isn't my thing). The energy levels were high and even during some of the grosser stuff like flushing heads in the toilet at the end or licking spew off the floor, the movie provided a wealth of great material for gonzo lovers as only Chris could provide. Summary: Rio Loco by director Chris Streams for Jules Jordan Video had some minor technical issues and very few extras but aside from the duration of the movie, it should probably be used to encourage tourists to head out for the sexually charged atmosphere of Rio given how impressive the ladies were in the scenes. Even when they were not fucking and sucking up a storm, the cast was having a ball, truly earning a rating of Highly Recommended for anyone able to handle the way the limits were sometimes pushed by the players, even some choking for the squeamish to avoid. In short, Rio Loco: Special Edition was nothing like I expected and the variety of action so great that even the questionable advertising (about the movie being over 6 hours and the missing photogallery) could not dissuade me from finding this on my short list of top titles of the year.
