Audio/Video Quality: Dexxxter was presented in an anamorphic widescreen 1.78:1 color as shot by director/editor Landon Weinberg for distribution by Pure Play Media via their Pink Lotus label. The product was presented in 480i resolution using the MPEG-2 codec, the visuals a lot clearer than expected given the third rate cover (nothing against Nikki Rhodes, but it was a cheesy cover). The lighting was not perfect but it did manage to show some care went into the single camera shoot, the balance of medium and close up shots better than what many bigger companies offer these days though the shaky camera was not my favorite aspect of the show by any means. The tint of the colors was slightly off and what appeared to be motel room or static set sex was abundantly clear too but it did seem better than many quickly shot low budget parodies, if not on par with the high end stuff I like so much. The video bitrate hovered around the 5.5 Mbps rate and was sufficient, some compositional issues not marring the movie a whole lot. The audio was presented in 2.0 Dolby Digital English with 192 Kbps bitrate and 48 kHz sampling rate, none of the vocals or background noises optimal (and there were a few times when the technical aspects could have used more polishing up, be it reflections or noises).

Body of Review: Pure Play Media is a distributor known as the home of a wide variety of labels these days, usually smaller companies that tend to reflect their niche markets more rapidly than the big producers can handle. One of their flock, Pink Lotus, made some waves last year by releasing a parody called "Horat" in what was the best parody of the mainstream "Borat" flick, garnering a lot of acclaim though not winning piles of awards. Pink Lotus follows up this year with Dexxxter: Yeah, It's A Porno, a takeoff on the popular Showtime series about a serial killer that targets those in desperate need of dying, his insider status and brilliant mind usually making the show more appealing. In this sitcum, Nikki Rhodes plays the lead as a "cum splat technician" for the Miami police department, solving crimes with her powerful sex drive (though not killing anyone in the process). The company website described the parody like this: "Join sex crime investigator, Dexxxter Whoregan (Nikki Rhodes) as she investigates some of Miami's sexiest and raunchiest cases. Adult stars Lexi Belle, McKenzie Sweets, Kya Tropic, Lynx and more perform in some steamy scenes in this parody on the Showtime hit, Dexter. Fans of the original show will appreciate the attention to detail, and hardcore porn lovers will surely get off to this hot feature!" Summary: Dexxxter by director Landon Weinberg for Pink Lotus was another low budget release taking advantage of the sitcum parody craze sweeping the industry, not measuring up compared to larger budgeted movies but still offering a showcase for Nikki Rhodes well enough to score an acceptable rating of Rent It. The DVD had minimal extras and the sexual exploits were bare bones decent but the parody elements were so minimal that it struck me a sequel would not be likely even if there were some clever moments tossed in spontaneously. In short, Dexxxter: Yeah, It's A Porno was much like the parodies of the early to mid 1980's in how the title contained most of the humor and the show itself was a loosely strung together series of straight (and one lesbian) encounters but Nikki fans surely wanting a copy of their very own.
