The Movie: Long before the current Adult movie parody craze  came  to be, DRILLER: A SEXUAL THRILLER had the movie goers dazed and confused at  first and leaving  fans of MJ Thriller wondering what brought this on. Porn viewers back then could not understand why it was made into a porno. I’m guess that back those porn watchers weren’t as particular in their taste as they are now. With all the parodies being releases and the better quality of film used its quite different watching something from the 80’s.

The DVD:

Audio/Video:Devil’s Den presents Driller: A Sexual Thriller in a 1:33:1 full frame aspect ratio. This transfer was made from 35mm  original film . Colors and black levels looked somewhat  decent on my  pc , on the  tv it was a clearer  picture with very little distortion. Detailing looked crisp and the images remains stable throughout. It should be noted that the opening and closing credits do not look as sharp as the rest of the transfer does. The audio portion is clean, clear and balanced presented in Dolby Digital Mono English.

Extras:The extras for  Driller include a trailer for the film (31 seconds ), two image galleries, a audio interview with actress Esmeralda (4 minutes 33 seconds) and a interview with producer Timothy Green Beckley aka Mr. Creepo (27 minutes 50 seconds ).The audio interview with Esmeralda, takes a looks back to her scene. While the interview with Timothy Green Beckley focuses on the production aspects of the film , casting, locations, the difficulties that arose between the mainstream and adult performers and the film’s original theatrical release.

Opening Scene: Driller opens up with a theatre full of spectators and fans waiting to watch Mr. J dance. As the   audience gets rowdy one of the ladies tears off her top exposing herself to Mr. J. As the other watch   the show Louise is in her own world daydreaming about Mr. J. After the  show is  over the  fans express how  good the  show  was and this is where the problems  start for  Louise and  Dan who is her boyfriend who is a major  geek to say the least.

Scene 1:  Taija Rae & Dick Howard:

Louise and Dan are back at her home in the living room and are trying to be very  quiet  about things. Dan on the other hand has other plans and is very vocal about what he wants. Louise on the other hand wants nothing to do with him touching her and keeps refusing his advances. Dan doesn’t see her complaints as a turn –off more of a turn on and he takes what he wants. After a few minutes on top he unloads all over her face.

Scene 2: Mr. J & Taija Rae:

In dream sequence Louise’s sexual fantasies come to life right before her eyes as her bedroom is invaded by zombies, ghouls and werewolves that break out into the first of many dance skits throughout the movie. The female zombies tear off some of her nighty revealing her breasts then disappear into the mist. Next we see Mr. J on top of her already changed into his wolf form. He then  shows off his massive organ that looks like a drill bit and penetrates her. After a few moments and against Louise’s approval he unloads a green slime like substance outside of her.

Scene 3: Esmeralda & Quazi-modo:

In a  dark  dungeon  we  find Esmeralda all  tied  up  showing her  bare  bottoms to the  camera.  Quazi-modo then breaks out the cat-o-nine tails and proceeds to use it on her ass. Final Thoughts: Although this  was the  first  attempt  back in the  80’s to make a porn parody , in my opinion  you have to watch it without the  pre ordained conception  of how much porn has  evolved since  then. The campy  plot and  multiple  dance scenes isn’t for those that  watch  porn  to  get off on. As one of my colleagues ask me “is it stroke worthy or in my case rub worthy and I had to be very honest with him that it wasn’t.

If you are into porn with music then yes this is something that one would enjoy.  As  for the transfer  from 35mm film to  DVD , I was  also  disappointed with it, viewing it on my  computer  doesn’t  do it justice it  was  too dark . When I watched it on  the  Sony  tv, you  were  able to   see it much  clearer and notice the  huge  difference  from  pc to tv.

25 years ago, who would think that Michael Jackson’s Thriller would eventually go on to cater to a different kind of audience. Driller came to life from the very warped mind of Timothy Green Beckley (Dr. Creepo) who saw it as his claim to fame and had hoped to even get some kind of feedback from Michael Jackson people, be it positive or negative.

Today’s  porn the men and women have  hardly  any hair on their bodies and in Driller there is  a lot of hair  everywhere!  There was no such thing as breast enhancement, everything was all nature. The  women  did have meat on their  bodies unlike today  where the  women are  very  petite and  well groomed( ie hair, nails, toned bodies) and the  same  goes for the men  except they are  well  built with a  six pack  abs and  tanned bodies and  well endowed.

Driller: A Sexual Thriller has the capability to get you aroused once you get over the fact that it was made back in the 80’s. My one favorite scene, the orgy is at the end. I guess they decide to keep the best for last. As for giving it a rating Driller.. for those that are  collectors of 80’s porn  then I would  suggest to  add it to your collection, other than that  I would have to say “Rent It” for now and  make your  own decision from there.
