Extras: The first disc held the movie itself and some trailers with a list of the second disc’s contents. The second disc also began with trailers until the selection screen came up to show a POV Fluffing Camera/BTS series of clips for the ladies in the 93:17 minute production. There was then a series of text questions and answers by the ladies, a photogallery of stills (polaroids with comments written on the sides), a true photogallery, a BTS photogallery, some trailers, and website spam.

Audio/Video Quality: Hard Passion 1 was shot in anamorphic widescreen as shot by directors Kelly Madison & Ryan Madison for Porn Fidelity. The production followed the performers around for just sex this time, skipping the romantic romps some of the company’s series do so well. As a show like this should have been easier to shoot and light, I was surprised that the camera work was not as strong as many of Ryan’s other credited works, a number of times the settings clearly changed on the fly and not edited properly to clean them up. There were even times when the flesh tones took on a green tint, either the white balance unable to compensate different light sources in different locations or some other technical matter but it was very noticeable to me on a repeated basis. The aural components were okay as the music was limited and the vocals consisted largely of whispers, loud moans, and the mixed in music during the initial portion of each scene. The 2.0 Dolby Digital in 192 Kbps audio bit rate was added in post production as far as I could tell, no separation between the channels included and the dynamic range quite limited.

Body of Review: Kelly Madison & Ryan Madison have impressed me over the last year by upgrading what they do and how they do it, taking chances where other companies just circled their wagons and played it safe. With Porn Fidelity and related websites, they have been expanding their scope into uncharted waters, their latest in for review called Hard Passion 1. This was a series of four scenes that showed Ryan working with a quartet of top notch ladies, each showing the kind of passion fans love to see, the kind you just cannot consistently find with newcomers or dabblers. I was most interested in checking out Ava Addams and cover gal Alanah Rae but Jessica Ryan and McKenzie Lee also offered some of the good stuff too. You can find individual scene trailers on one of the company websites, for free, but I linked the main trailer to the above screen captures for those wanting a taste of what I observed.

The extras disc added some value for me and I was a little surprised at how generic the final two scenes of the flick were since it started so well, but fans of Alanah Rae, Ava Addams, McKenzie Lee, and Jessica Ryan will definitely want this one for their collections. In short, Hard Passion 1 showed that when things were clicking, they were really working well and when they needed a lot more polishing up, they were still okay, the production a nice selection of four scenes.
